July 19th, 2006 - After one year of development based on the needs of manufacturing designers, VirtualGrid is proud to announce the release of VRMesh 3.0, a sketch-based free-form 3D mesh modeler for arbitrary triangle mesh creating and processing. It is a huge step forward in technology, performance, and speed. The interface and interaction are redesigned, more than sixty new features are added, and everything is speeded up, e.g., converting one million point clouds to meshes takes only a few minutes on a regular PC.
VRMesh's workflows are tremendously enhanced for reverse engineering, free-form modeling, and rapid prototyping with new features such as:
More smoothing functionalities are added, e.g., sharp smoothing, enhance smoothing, smoothing boundary.
Registration, it can match the outer surface under the condition of using point marks.
Analysis Wizard, it can always determine what is wrong with the STL-file.
Marking tools, they help you mark interested edges or regions to process or preserve them.
Project and Paste, it projects a source object onto a target surface, and the source object will be deformed according to the change of its boundary curve.
Stereo capability.
Extend/Extrude boundary along tangential/normal direction.
Footprint, it helps you print a pattern onto a surface.
Create and export (DXF) the section-curves, or feature-curves.
All key features are improved such as:
Point cloud to mesh, the program will choose different filters to triangulate the point clouds according to the chosen noise level.
Unify normals, it can fix complicated errors using the heuristic method.
Boolean operation, it is redesigned to handle any two organic objects.
Offset surface, Offset contour region, and Offset marked region, the offset distance can be set to vary around the boundaries.
Sculpt brush and Sculpt curve, the deforming height can be set to vary along the deforming path.
In short, VRMesh is a high-level and low-cost application tool, which gives you the power to create, edit, sculpture, and transform 3d mesh easily and efficiently.
Price
VRMesh 3.0 is available immediately for Window platforms for a suggested retail price of US$695.
